Cancer in the outer, middle, or inner ear (not skin cancer) that may cause pain, drainage, or changes in hearing.
During active disease and treatment, medical records confirming the diagnosis and documentation of ongoing or recently completed surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or other therapeutic procedures are the core evidence supporting the 100% rating. After the six-month period following treatment ends, the mandatory VA examination becomes the primary basis for evaluation. At that stage, records showing whether there has been any local recurrence or metastasis are critical. If there is no recurrence or spread, VA looks at residual disabilities — so medical records, imaging results, specialist notes, hearing tests, and any other findings that document lasting effects of the cancer or its treatment are relevant. Statements from you describing how residual symptoms affect your daily life and work can also help establish the severity of those remaining conditions.
Conditions that are often caused or made worse by this one. If you have any of these, they may be claimable as secondary service connection.
