A condition where the body lacks sufficient folic acid, a vitamin needed to produce healthy red blood cells.
To support a 10% rating, evidence should show that you are on a continuous regimen of high-dose oral folic acid supplementation prescribed by a medical provider. Treatment records, pharmacy records, or prescription printouts that document the dose and the ongoing nature of that treatment are directly relevant. A provider's notes explaining why dietary changes alone are not enough to manage your condition can also help show this level of need.
To reflect the 0% level, records would show either that you have no current symptoms or that your condition is controlled through diet alone, with no prescription supplementation required. If you believe your symptoms or treatment requirements affect your work or daily life in ways your records do not fully capture, a personal statement or a statement from someone who knows you can help give VA a fuller picture of your day-to-day situation.
Conditions that are often caused or made worse by this one. If you have any of these, they may be claimable as secondary service connection.
