Malignant tumor of the kidney (renal cell carcinoma)
Because the condition is generally rated as hydronephrosis under § 4.115a, the evidence needed depends on which area of dysfunction is most prominent. For renal dysfunction, the key evidence is lab results showing your glomerular filtration rate (GFR or eGFR) calculated by a medical professional, documented for at least three consecutive months during the past 12 months. Records showing dialysis, kidney transplant eligibility, urine casts, structural kidney abnormalities, or albumin-to-creatinine ratio results also support a renal rating. For voiding problems, records documenting how often you leak urine or how often you void, including nighttime awakenings, help establish a level. For the 30% stone-procedure exception, medical records showing the number and type of procedures performed per year — such as lithotripsy, ureteroscopy, or other interventions — directly support that rating. Statements from you or people who live with you describing how symptoms affect your work and daily activities can help show the full impact of the condition.
