Malignant tumor of the liver (primary liver carcinoma; excluding cirrhosis/hepatitis B cases)
During active treatment, medical records confirming the diagnosis and documenting ongoing surgical, radiation, or chemotherapy treatment are the core evidence supporting the 100 percent rating. Oncology notes, pathology reports, imaging studies, and treatment summaries all reflect the active disease picture. After treatment ends, the mandatory VA examination six months later becomes the key record. At that exam, findings showing whether the cancer has recurred or metastasized will determine the next rating. If no recurrence or metastasis is found, evidence of residual disabilities matters most — this could include lab results, imaging, physician notes describing lasting organ damage or functional loss, and your own statements describing how symptoms affect your daily activities and ability to work. Statements from people who observe your condition day to day can also help show the severity of any remaining effects.
Conditions that are often caused or made worse by this one. If you have any of these, they may be claimable as secondary service connection.
