A parasitic infection causing severe swelling of limbs or other body parts due to blocked lymphatic vessels.
During the active phase of the disease, medical records confirming an active infection — such as physician notes, lab results, or hospitalization records — would reflect the criteria for a 100 percent rating.
After the disease resolves, the evidence that matters most is documentation of any remaining physical damage. Medical records showing a diagnosis of epididymitis, lymphangitis, lymphatic obstruction, or lymphedema of the extremities, genitals, or breasts would support rating those residuals. Imaging studies, lymphoscintigraphy results, physical examination findings describing swelling or scarring, and specialist evaluations all help establish the nature and severity of lasting damage. Statements from you or people who know you that describe how symptoms affect your work, movement, or daily activities can also help VA understand how each residual condition affects your life.
Conditions that are often caused or made worse by this one. If you have any of these, they may be claimable as secondary service connection.
