The path your rating takes depends on which treatment you received, so records documenting your treatment history are central. If antineoplastic therapy was used, treatment records showing the type and dates of therapy support the 100% rating during and after treatment. After the mandatory six-month examination, records and exam findings showing any local recurrence, metastasis, or residual effects become relevant. If you had a prophylactic thyroidectomy based on genetic testing without antineoplastic therapy, records showing the genetic test result and the surgical report establish that path. To support a 100% hypothyroidism rating, medical records and exam findings would need to document myxedema features such as cold intolerance, muscular weakness, low blood pressure, slow heart rate, pericardial effusion, dementia, slowed thinking, or depression. For the 30% level, records confirming hypothyroidism without myxedema are relevant. Statements from you or people who know you describing how symptoms affect your daily activities and work can help show the functional impact of any residual effects rated under other body systems after the initial evaluation period ends.
