If you drive or recently drove heavy military vehicles, Alabama will waive the skills test portion of the commercial driver license exam. You still take the written knowledge test.
Request the waiver form at an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency driver license office at the same time you take your CDL knowledge tests.
Documentation that you are currently licensed on, or were employed within the past year in, a military transportation unit operating a vehicle equivalent to a commercial motor vehicle.
