The Alabama National Guard lets certain veterans use Guard facilities, including buying gasoline where it is sold. Qualifying veterans are retired members of the armed forces and the Alabama National Guard, Medal of Honor recipients, Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war, veterans with a VA service-connected disability rating, and caregivers the VA recognizes for those veterans.

How to apply

Show qualifying identification at the Alabama National Guard facility. Contact the Alabama National Guard or your county veterans service office if you are unsure which facilities you can use.

What you'll need

Your retired military ID, Medal of Honor or Purple Heart documentation, POW documentation, VA disability rating letter, or VA caregiver recognition, depending on which path you qualify under.

Eligibility

  • You are a retired member of the armed forces or the Alabama National Guard, a Medal of Honor recipient, a Purple Heart recipient, a former prisoner of war, a veteran with a VA service-connected disability rating, or a VA-recognized caregiver of one of those veterans
