You can have a veteran designation printed on your Alabama driver license as proof of military service. There is no charge when you first get a license or when you renew.

Visit an Alabama driver license office and ask for the veteran designation when you apply for or renew your license.

What you'll need

A copy of your DD214, NGB22, DD2 or retired military ID card as proof of eligibility.

Eligibility

You are an Alabama resident
You received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions
