The Alaska Department of Labor gives you priority of service and help finding work, apprenticeships and on-the-job training. Priority of service means you get earlier access to a service or resource, and when resources are limited you get access before or instead of others. If you have significant barriers to employment, you, an eligible spouse or a caregiver can get intensive services through the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program, including skills and needs assessments, an individual employment plan, and individual counseling and career planning.
Contact your nearest Alaska Job Center and tell them you are a veteran, or call the Alaska Statewide Veteran Coordinator at 907-269-3016.
Your DD214 showing at least one day of active duty and a discharge other than dishonorable, or documentation of your relationship to the veteran or service member if you are claiming as a spouse.
