Alaska High School Diplomas for World War II Veterans

High school diploma awarded

Alaska awards a high school diploma to World War II veterans, including Alaska Territorial Guard members, who served between August 7, 1940 and July 25, 1947. You can apply even if you already hold a GED. A family member can apply on behalf of a veteran who has died or is incapacitated.

How to apply

Email eed.tech@alaska.gov with the veteran’s full name as it should appear on the diploma, the dates of service, a mailing address, the applicant’s name and a telephone number. You will then be asked to fax the discharge papers to 907-465-4156 or mail them to the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development, ATTN: WWII HS Diploma Program, PO Box 110500, Juneau AK 99811-0500.

What you'll need

A copy of the veteran’s discharge papers showing service between August 7, 1940 and July 25, 1947, plus the veteran’s name, service dates and a mailing address.

Eligibility

  • You served in the U.S. Armed Forces or the Alaska Territorial Guard between August 7, 1940 and July 25, 1947
  • You are the veteran, or a family member applying for a veteran who has died or is incapacitated
