Alaska offers free, discounted and resident-rate hunting and fishing licenses to service members, veterans and their families. Which one you get depends on whether you are a resident, whether you are serving in the Alaska National Guard or Reserves, and whether you have a VA disability rating.

How to apply

Apply online at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game online store. Disabled veterans also have to send proof of their rating to the Licensing Section.

What you'll need

Proof of your status for the license you want: your Alaska National Guard or Reserve membership, your VA Benefit Summary Letter, or your orders and military ID if you are stationed in Alaska.

Eligibility

  • You are a service member, veteran or eligible family member
  • You qualify for one of the military or veteran license categories
