Alaska Private Employment Hiring Preference

Private employers in Alaska, authorized under state law
Employers may lawfully prefer service members, veterans and their families in hiring

Alaska law lets private employers offer a hiring preference to service members, former service members, veterans and their eligible family members. Eligible family includes a spouse and dependent children, and the surviving spouse or dependent child of a service member who died while serving. A dependent child means a natural, step or adopted child who is under 19, permanently disabled, or under 23 and attending an accredited educational or technical institution full time.

What you'll need

Your DD214, NGB22 or military ID if the employer asks for proof of service, or proof of your relationship to the service member if you are claiming as a family member.
