Alaska offers 15 distinctive license plates honoring service members, veterans, retired service members and certain family members. Some plates can also carry one of 64 symbols for a specific unit or badge. Eligibility and documentation requirements differ by plate.
Submit the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles application for personalized plates at your nearest DMV office, or apply online through the myAlaska webpage. Examples of the plates are under the "Honoring Military and Veteran Service" heading on the DMV personalized plate page.
The proof of eligibility for the specific plate you want, which is usually your DD214, discharge paperwork, military ID or a VA letter.
