25 percent off the purchase price of state land, once in a lifetime

Alaska gives resident veterans a once-in-a-lifetime 25 percent discount on the purchase price of state land. The discount does not apply to certain costs the Department of Natural Resources incurred to develop the land for sale.

How to apply

Bid on or apply for a state land offering through the Department of Natural Resources. Only send your proof of eligibility after DNR asks for it; you will be given a deadline. Request your DD214 and gather the rest well before the auction.

What you'll need

A DD214 showing the qualifying length of active duty service and the character of your discharge, proof of Alaska residency, and a notarised Veteran Eligibility Application and Affidavit.

Eligibility

  • You are 18 or older on the date of bid or application
  • You have been an Alaska resident for at least one year before the bid or application
  • You served at least 90 days of active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces or the Alaska Territorial Guard, or were released early because of a service-connected disability or an early separation after a tour of duty overseas
  • You received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions
  • You have received your DD214
