Arizona 100% Disabled Veteran Vehicle License Tax and Registration Fee Exemption

If you are 100 percent disabled and receiving compensation from the VA, one vehicle you own or co-own is exempt from Arizona vehicle license tax and registration fees. An unremarried surviving spouse of an eligible veteran keeps the exemption.

Claim the exemption through Arizona MVD when you register or renew the vehicle, with your VA documentation.

What you'll need

A VA Benefit Summary Letter showing a 100 percent disability rating and that you receive VA compensation, plus the vehicle title or registration showing you own or co-own it.

Eligibility

  • You own or co-own the vehicle and register it in Arizona
  • You are 100 percent disabled and receiving compensation from the VA, or you are the unremarried surviving spouse of a veteran who was
  • You are claiming the exemption for only one vehicle
