Free combination license at a 100 percent rating, $42 below 100 percent, $28 for Purple Heart recipients

Arizona sells disabled veterans a combination hunting and fishing license free or at a reduced price. It is free with a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected disability rating from the VA, $42 with a service-connected rating below 100 percent, and $28 if you are a Purple Heart recipient. An optional plastic card version of the license costs $4.

How to apply

Complete the Arizona Game and Fish Department application for the free or reduced fee disabled veteran license and submit it with the fee, by check or money order, and the documentation listed on the application, at any Game and Fish office or by mail to Arizona Game and Fish Department, Attn: Front Counter, 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85086-5000.

What you'll need

Proof you have been an Arizona resident for at least one year, and a VA Benefit Summary Letter showing your disability rating or documentation of your Purple Heart.

  • You have been an Arizona resident for at least one year before you apply
  • You have a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected disability rating from the VA, or a service-connected rating below 100 percent, or you received the Purple Heart
