Arizona does not tax the military pay you earn while serving in an active or reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces.

How to apply

There is nothing to apply for. Subtract your military pay from the income you report on your Arizona return. If Arizona tax was withheld from it by mistake, file a return to claim the refund.

What you'll need

Your W-2 or Leave and Earnings Statements showing the military pay, kept with your tax records.

  • You are filing an Arizona income tax return
  • You receive pay for service in an active or reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces
