Arizona National Guard State Tuition Reimbursement

Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, Arizona National Guard
Up to $250 per semester hour, not to exceed $5,250 per state fiscal year

If you drill with the Arizona National Guard, State Tuition Reimbursement pays you back for schooling at up to $250 per semester hour, capped at $5,250 per state fiscal year. If you qualify, you can transfer up to that same annual maximum to a spouse or dependent registered in DEERS.

How to apply

Send the STR application by mail to the Arizona National Guard Education Services Office, 5636 E. McDowell Road, Building M5710, Phoenix, AZ 85008, or by email to azdema.tuition.reimbursement@army.mil. For help, call 602-267-2445.

What you'll need

The completed STR application, proof you are in good standing with no active flags, your unit training attendance record, and your school transcript or grade report showing a final grade of C or better in each course claimed.

Eligibility

  • You are actively drilling with the Arizona National Guard in good standing with no active flags for the whole period you are claiming, and you stay a drilling member for 12 months after your final reimbursement
  • You have completed Initial Active Duty for Training, Technical Training or Student Flight Training and keep 90 percent attendance at Unit Training Assemblies and annual training
  • You have completed a semester as a full-time or part-time student at a university, community college, vocational or technical school, or a VA-qualified correspondence course
  • You earned an average grade of C or better in each course claimed
