Every Arizona National Guard member is covered by $1,000 of state sponsored life insurance at no cost. Through the National Guard Association of Arizona you can buy up to $260,000 of coverage for yourself, plus coverage for your spouse and children. Coverage runs to age 70, premiums can come out of your pay, and your rates do not go up when you leave the Guard, with one increase at age 50 and a second at 60. There are no war, aviation or terrorism clauses, there is a two-year suicide clause, and benefits are paid within 24 to 48 hours of notification without needing a death certificate.
