Veteran Designation on Arizona Driver Licenses, Instruction Permits and ID Cards

Veteran designation printed on your Arizona license, permit or ID card

Arizona will print a veteran designation on your driver license, instruction permit, commercial driver license, learner permit or ID card as proof of service. It is open to active duty service members and to veterans discharged under conditions other than dishonorable.

How to apply

Ask for the veteran designation at any Arizona MVD field office or third-party vendor that processes driver license transactions.

What you'll need

Any one of these: a DD214, DD215, DD2 retired, DD2 reserve or DD217; an active duty military ID card (CAC); an inactive duty ID card; an original Statement of Honorable Service from the VA or ADVS; a Certificate of Honorable Discharge; an American Legion, Disabled American Veteran, Military Officers of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Military Order of the Purple Heart or Vietnam Veterans of America ID card; or a VA medical card.

Eligibility

  • You hold or are applying for an Arizona driver license, instruction permit or ID card
  • You are serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, or you are a veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable
