Arkansas Homestead and Personal Property Tax Exemption for Disabled Veterans

Local Arkansas county assessor and collector office
Full exemption from property tax on your homestead and personal property

If you are an Arkansas resident veteran with a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected disability rating, or you receive Special Monthly Compensation for the loss or loss of use of one or more limbs or total blindness in one or both eyes, you pay no property tax at all on your homestead and personal property. An unremarried surviving spouse and dependent children keep the exemption. A surviving spouse who remarried can have the exemption reinstated if that later marriage ends.

How to apply

Apply through the county assessor and collector office where you live, not the state. You have to be recertified every year to keep the exemption.

What you'll need

Your VA documentation of the 100 percent total and permanent rating or the Special Monthly Compensation award, proof of Arkansas residency, and for a surviving spouse or dependent child, proof of the relationship and the veteran’s death or casualty paperwork.

Eligibility

  • You are an Arkansas resident
  • You are a veteran with a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected disability rating from the VA, a veteran receiving Special Monthly Compensation for the loss or loss of use of one or more limbs or total blindness in one or both eyes, or the unremarried surviving spouse or dependent child of a veteran who held the exemption, a service member who died in the line of duty, a service member declared missing in action, or a veteran who died from a service-connected cause
