Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery

No-cost burial, plot, liner, bronze marker, service and perpetual care

The state veterans cemetery at Wrightstown provides burial for eligible veterans and their families at no cost. You get free burial, a grave plot, a grave liner, a bronze grave marker on a granite base, the burial service and use of the cemetery chapel, and perpetual care. The cemetery has a chapel, an outdoor committal shelter, and memorial sections for cremated remains and for veterans whose remains were never recovered.

How to apply

Complete the pre-registration form to establish eligibility before there is a need, following the submission instructions and document list on the form. The cemetery is at 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562, phone 609-738-2400.

What you'll need

The veteran’s DD214 or other discharge paperwork, proof of New Jersey residency, and a marriage certificate or dependent documentation for family members.

Eligibility

  • You were discharged from active duty service in the U.S. Armed Forces under conditions other than dishonorable, died while serving on active duty, served at least 20 years in the National Guard or Reserves and are eligible for military retired pay or would have been except for death before age 60, or were a reserve component member activated for federal service
  • You were a legal resident of New Jersey before death, or a legal resident for at least 50 percent of your lifetime, unless that requirement is waived
  • Your spouse and dependent children qualify through you, with dependent children limited to unmarried children under 21, under 23 if a full-time student at an approved institution, or a child who developed a lifelong disability before age 21
