California College Tuition Fee Waivers for Veteran Dependents

California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), through County Veterans Service Offices
System-wide tuition and mandatory fees waived at California Community College, CSU and UC campuses

This waiver covers system-wide tuition and mandatory fees at any California Community College, California State University or University of California campus for the dependents of eligible veterans. It does not cover books, parking, or room and board. There are four plans: Plan A for children aged 15 to 26 and spouses of veterans with a total service-connected disability or who died of a service-connected cause, extended to age 30 if the child is a veteran; Plan B for children of a service-connected disabled veteran whose own income is under the California income tax filing threshold, with no age limit and no wartime requirement; Plan C for the spouse, unremarried surviving spouse or child of a California National Guard member killed, permanently disabled or fatally injured on state active duty; and Plan D for Medal of Honor recipients and their children under 27 who are under the income threshold. Plan A cannot be combined with VA education benefits, while Plans B and D can.
