Free Parking at Metered Parking Spaces for Eligible California Veterans

Local California city and county parking authorities, under state law
Free parking at metered spaces where the local jurisdiction has adopted the exemption

If your vehicle carries a California Medal of Honor, Legion of Valor, Former Prisoner of War, Pearl Harbor or Purple Heart license plate and weighs no more than 6,000 pounds gross, you can park free at metered spaces. Each local jurisdiction has to adopt this, so it is not available everywhere.
