California State Parks Free Lifetime Distinguished Veteran Pass

Free lifetime day use, camping and boating at participating state parks

The Distinguished Veteran Pass is a free lifetime pass that covers all basic facilities at California State Parks, including day use, camping and boating, at no charge. Not every park accepts it, and California State Parks publishes the list of participating parks.

How to apply

Apply online at ReserveCalifornia.com, in person at a California State Parks pass sales location, or by mailing your completed application and the documents listed in section B of the form to California State Parks, Attn: Distinguished Veteran Pass Program, P.O. Box 942896, Sacramento CA 94296-0001.

What you'll need

Proof of California residency, your discharge paperwork showing wartime service and an honorable discharge, and your VA disability rating documentation, prisoner of war documentation or Medal of Honor documentation.

Eligibility

  • You are a California resident wartime veteran
  • You received an honorable discharge
  • You have a service-connected disability rating from the VA of 50 percent or more, are a former prisoner of war, or are a Medal of Honor recipient
