Treatment-based alternative to ordinary court proceedings

Veterans treatment courts offer an alternative to ordinary case proceedings that addresses the underlying problems behind a veteran’s criminal or other court involvement. Veterans service agencies, community providers and the court work together, and if you take part you are ordered to complete a treatment plan and follow the other terms of probation the court sets.

Ask your defense attorney or the court in your county to refer you to the veterans treatment court. CalVet publishes a directory of participating courts.

The county where your case is being heard operates a veterans treatment court
The court accepts you into the program
