Honorably discharged veterans with a 50 percent or higher permanent service-connected disability rating can get the Colorado Disabled Veteran plate. Veterans who lost or lost the use of one or both feet or hands, or who have permanent loss of vision in both eyes amounting to virtual or actual blindness, also qualify. One set is exempt from ownership taxes and registration fees; each additional set costs a one-time $50 fee. Holding this plate also gets you free admission to Colorado State Parks.
Print the Colorado Disabled Veteran License Plate Checklist, follow it, and submit your paperwork with the checklist as a cover sheet to your county motor vehicle office.
Your DD214 or other separation paperwork showing an honorable discharge, VA certification of your disability, and Form DR 2002.
