Every Colorado National Guard member is covered by $1,000 of State Sponsored Life Insurance at no cost. Beyond that you can buy $10,000 to $260,000 of coverage for yourself, $5,000 to $155,000 for a spouse and $5,000 to $35,000 for each child. Coverage runs to age 70, pays an emergency death benefit of up to $25,000 within 24 hours, has no war, aviation or terrorism exclusions, protects you 24 hours a day on or off duty, and is paid by monthly payroll deduction. Your benefits and monthly cost stay the same when you retire or separate from the Guard. Families of participating members are also eligible for the Family Survivor College Scholarship.
