Leave for Colorado State Employees for Military Duty

Your Colorado state agency human resources office
15 days of paid military leave per year, plus extended unpaid leave with reinstatement rights

If you are a Colorado state employee serving in a reserve component, you get 15 days of paid military leave a year for authorized training or a call to state or federal active duty, and you lose no seniority, status, efficiency rating, vacation, sick leave or other benefits for taking it. If you are called to active duty for longer than 15 days you get extended unpaid military leave, and you must be reinstated to your former position when your service ends.

  • You are a Colorado state employee
  • You are serving in the National Guard or the U.S. Armed Forces Reserve
  • You are on orders for authorized training or a call to state or federal active duty
