Compensation for Texas National Guard Service Members Injured, Disabled or Killed on State Active Duty

Workers’ compensation coverage for injury, illness, disability or death on state active duty

You are covered by the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act if you are injured, fall ill, become disabled or die in the line of duty while serving on state active duty with the Texas National Guard during authorized training or duty. Your survivors can claim under the same Act if you die.

How to apply

Report the injury, illness or death through your chain of command and file a workers’ compensation claim with the Texas Military Department, following its state active duty workers’ compensation pamphlet.

What you'll need

Your state active duty orders, a line of duty determination, your medical records for the injury or illness, and a death certificate if you are filing as a survivor.

Eligibility

  • You are a Texas National Guard service member serving on state active duty, or the survivor of one
  • You were injured, became ill, became disabled or died in the line of duty during authorized training or duty
