Connecticut Motorcycle Endorsement Examination Waiver for Service Members

Motorcycle endorsement examination waived for a $30 fee

If you hold a Connecticut driver’s license, are stationed out of state, and have completed an approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Education course or the Connecticut Rider Education Program, Connecticut will waive the motorcycle endorsement examination.

How to apply

Mail or fax the request for a license by mail, the non-commercial learner permit and driver license application, a copy of your military ID, your course certificate and a $30 fee to Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, Mail-in License Transaction Unit, Room 331, 60 State Street, Wethersfield, CT 06161, fax 860-263-5591, or email dmv.ciu@ct.gov.

What you'll need

A completed Request for a Connecticut Driver’s License/ID Card by Mail, a completed Application for Connecticut Non-Commercial Learner Permit and/or Driver License, a copy of your military ID, your approved Basic Rider Education course certificate, and the $30 fee.

Eligibility

  • You are serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You hold a Connecticut driver’s license
  • You are stationed outside Connecticut
  • You completed an approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Education course or the Connecticut Rider Education Program
