Connecticut Veterans Wartime Service Medal

State wartime service medal

Connecticut awards a state service medal to veterans who served on active duty during a statutory wartime period; the qualifying dates are listed on the application. The medal can also be awarded after death to a family member of a deceased veteran.

How to apply

Send the completed application with proof of qualifying service and proof of residency to Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, ATTN: Wartime Medal and Registry, 287 West Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, fax 860-616-3562, or email oaa.dva@ct.gov. For questions call 860-616-3600. There is a separate application if you are applying on behalf of a deceased veteran.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or other official documentation of service during a qualifying period, and proof of Connecticut residency.

Eligibility

  • You served at least 90 days on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces during a statutory wartime period, not counting active duty for training, unless you were discharged earlier for a service-connected disability or the war or operation lasted less than 90 days
  • You received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions
  • You were a Connecticut resident at the time of your wartime service, or you are a Connecticut resident now
