How to apply

Submit the Application for Waiver of Registration Fee for Active Service in the U.S. Armed Forces to the Connecticut DMV when you register or renew your vehicle.

What you'll need

If you are serving, your valid military ID card. If you are discharged, your DD214 showing an honorable discharge. If you are in the National Guard or Reserves, your federal active duty orders. You also need proof you were a Connecticut resident when you entered the service.

Eligibility

  • You were a Connecticut resident when you entered the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You are serving on active duty and hold a valid military ID card, you were discharged with an honorable discharge shown on your DD214, or you are a National Guard or Reserve member who has been called to federal active duty for any length of time
