Washington, D.C. Department of Employment Services
No-cost employment services with priority of service

You get employment training and placement help through the District’s American Job Centers, including registration help, one-on-one case management, an assessment of your interests, skills and abilities, job search counseling, follow-up services and referrals to medical services or counseling. Priority of service means you get early access, and when places are limited you are served before other people. Spouses and unremarried surviving spouses qualify through a veteran who died of a service-connected disability, a veteran with a total service-connected rating, a veteran who died while so rated, or a service member listed for 90 days or more as missing in action, captured by a hostile force, or forcibly detained by a foreign government.
