Washington, D.C. Income Tax Exclusion for Military Survivor Benefit Plan Annuities

Full exclusion of SBP, RCSBP and RSFPP annuities from District gross income at 62 and over

Survivor Benefit Plan, Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan and Retired Serviceman’s Family Protection Plan annuities are left out of your District gross income once you are 62 or older.

How to apply

There is nothing to apply for. For any year in which you are 62 or older, leave the annuity payments out of the income you report on your District return.

What you'll need

Your Form 1099-R showing the annuity payments, and proof of your date of birth.

Eligibility

  • You file a Washington, D.C. income tax return
  • You receive a Survivor Benefit Plan, Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan or Retired Serviceman’s Family Protection Plan annuity
  • You are 62 years of age or older
