Washington, D.C. Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs, with the Department of For-Hire Vehicles
Free transportation, 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily

You can get free rides to medical treatment and appointments, education, job opportunities, housing appointments, food distribution sites and grocery stores, and pharmacies. Rides run from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week.

How to apply

Register online with the VetsRide Transportation Program Certification Form, then call 202-398-0500 to book each ride. For more information, call the Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs at 202-724-4010.

What you'll need

Proof that you live in Washington, D.C., your discharge paperwork, and proof of your income or of your recent unemployment.

Eligibility

  • You are a Washington, D.C. resident
  • You are a veteran
  • You have an annual income of less than $45,000, or you are recently unemployed
