Exemption from further military service, except in war, invasion or insurrection

You are exempt from further military service, except in case of war, invasion or insurrection, once you have served nine years in the Pennsylvania National Guard or nine months or longer on active duty and been honorably discharged.

There is nothing to apply for. Keep your discharge paperwork and service records, and raise the exemption with the Pennsylvania National Guard if you are called on to serve again.

What you'll need

Your DD214, NGB22 or other service records showing your qualifying service and honorable discharge.

Eligibility

  • You received an honorable discharge
  • You served nine years in the Pennsylvania National Guard, or you served nine months or longer on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces
