Florida Honorably Discharged Graduate Assistance Program (HDGAP)

Florida Department of Education, Office of Student Financial Assistance
Up to $50 per day for up to 20 days per academic year

HDGAP is a need-based payment that helps you cover living expenses during holiday and semester breaks, when other student aid usually stops. You can receive up to $50 per day for a maximum of 20 days per academic year. Living expenses means the essentials such as food, shelter, utilities and personal care products.

How to apply

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to demonstrate financial need, then contact the Florida Office of Student Financial Assistance at 888-827-2004 or osfa@fldoe.org.

What you'll need

A completed FAFSA showing financial need, your DD214 showing an honorable discharge on or after September 11, 2001, or proof of current active duty service, and proof of Florida residency.

Eligibility

  • You are a Florida resident
  • You are a service member serving on active duty, or a veteran honorably discharged from active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces on or after September 11, 2001
  • You are enrolled as a student
  • You demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
