If you are at least 62 and served 30 good years in the Florida National Guard, Florida pays you state retirement pay on top of your federal military retired pay. It equals one half of the base pay for your grade and time in service. If you are at least 60 but under 62 and otherwise qualified, you can retire early and take a reduced benefit. Federal active duty service counts double toward your Florida time in service if it fell between August 27, 1940 and December 31, 1946, June 29, 1950 and January 31, 1955, August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975, or August 1, 1990 and September 1, 1991.
