Florida State Employment Promotion Preference After Deployment

Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs (FDVA)
One promotion opportunity for each qualifying deployment

Florida gives you a promotion preference in state employment after a deployment. You get one promotion opportunity for every deployment. Active duty for training does not count.

How to apply

Tell your state agency’s human resources office when you return that you are claiming the post-deployment promotion preference, and give them your deployment orders.

What you'll need

  • You were deployed under Title 10 for at least 90 consecutive days, or were released early while serving in a combat zone or for medical reasons
  • Your deployment was not active duty for training
