Florida Veterans to Teachers Program

Florida Department of Education, with Tallahassee State College
Application and exam fees waived, temporary five-year teaching certificate, and a $4,000 sign-on bonus plus $1,000 for a high-demand subject

The Veterans to Teachers Program helps you move into teaching from kindergarten through 12th grade. Florida gives you a temporary teaching certificate that lets you teach for up to five years while you finish your certification requirements, and the program usually takes about nine months and can be completed from anywhere, even while you are on active duty. Application and exam fees are waived for service members, veterans and their spouses. Veterans without a bachelor’s degree may still qualify for a temporary certificate. If you were employed on or after 1 July 2023 you can receive a $4,000 sign-on bonus for committing to teach for two years, plus another $1,000 for teaching a high-demand subject.
