Ohio gives you free camping at Ohio State Parks if you are a resident former prisoner of war, or an honorably discharged veteran with a total and permanent VA disability rating. It covers campsites only, and cannot be used for more than one campsite for the same dates.

What you'll need

Proof of Ohio residency, your DD214 showing an honorable discharge, and your VA letter showing a total and permanent disability rating or your prisoner of war documentation.

You were a prisoner of war, or you received an honorable discharge and have a total and permanent disability rating from the VA
You book your campsite through the Ohio State Parks call center
