Free Hunting and Fishing for West Virginia Resident Disabled Veterans and Prisoners of War

Free hunting and fishing privileges

You can hunt and fish in West Virginia at no cost if you are a resident veteran with a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected disability, a former prisoner of war, or eligible for the motor vehicle registration fee exemption. You have to file an application with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources first.

How to apply

Mail the Disabled Veterans and Former Prisoners of War Application for Hunting and Fishing Privileges to the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance, 300 Technology Drive, Suite 201, South Charleston, WV 25309.

What you'll need

The completed application, your DD214 showing an honorable discharge, and your VA rating letter showing a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected rating, or documentation of your prisoner of war status.

Eligibility

  • You are a West Virginia resident
  • You received an honorable discharge
  • You receive VA compensation for a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected disability, or you were declared a prisoner of war, or you are eligible for the motor vehicle registration fee exemption
  • You have filed an application with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources
