Free Minnesota State Park Passes for Service Members, Purple Heart Recipients, Disabled Veterans and their Dependents

You can request a free annual permit for Minnesota State Parks and Recreation Areas.

How to apply

Apply at any staffed Minnesota state park office, or at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources License Center, 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul, MN 55155. For questions email PAT.Fulfillment.DNR@state.mn.us.

What you'll need

If you are serving, your current military orders and military ID. If you are a disabled veteran, a copy of your VA Benefit Summary Letter and a photo ID. If you are a Purple Heart recipient, documentation that you received the Purple Heart, such as your DD214 or the citation for the award.

Eligibility

  • You are a service member from any component of the U.S. Armed Forces or the dependent of one, or a veteran with any level of service-connected disability, or a Purple Heart recipient
  • You bring the proof of eligibility for your category to the park or license center
