The Mississippi Department of Health and the chancery and circuit clerks give you free copies of documents you need to file a claim with the VA. Covered records include birth and death certificates, marriage licences, divorce decrees, adoption decrees, and any other record needed to establish dependency, disability or eligibility for survivors’ benefits.
Ask the Mississippi Department of Health or the chancery or circuit clerk who holds the record, and tell them it is needed for a VA claim.
Documentation that the record is needed for a VA claim, and your identification.
