Free New Jersey Fishing and Hunting Licenses for Resident Disabled Veterans

Free hunting and fishing licences, permits and stamps, plus free deer, turkey and bear permits

New Jersey resident veterans with a service-connected disability of any degree get free hunting and fishing licences, permits and stamps. With a Disabled Veteran licence you also get unlimited antlerless deer permits and one free antlered deer permit each deer season, two free spring turkey permits and one free fall turkey permit in the lottery plus additional free permits when leftover permit sales open, and free bear permits.

How to apply

Submit the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife Disabled Veteran licence application with the documentation listed on it. For help, call 609-292-2965 or email NJDFWLicenses@dep.nj.gov.

What you'll need

Proof of your service-connected disability, either a VA Benefit Summary Letter or the wallet-sized card from the VA showing a service-connected disability, proof of your honorable discharge such as a DD214, and your New Jersey driver licence or other proof of residency.

Eligibility

  • You are a New Jersey resident
  • You were honorably discharged from active duty service in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You have a service-connected disability of any degree from the VA
