Free Texas Parklands Passport for Service Members, Veterans and Gold Star Families

Free state park entry, plus free entry for a companion if you are a qualifying disabled veteran

You get free entry to Texas state parks with a Parklands Passport, issued at no charge to serving members, veterans, disabled veterans and the families of service members who died while serving. If you have a service-connected rating of at least 60 percent or the loss of a lower extremity, a companion gets in free with you.

Apply at any Texas state park. Check the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Parklands Passport page for the full list of documents each category has to bring.

What you'll need

Your military ID, DD214 or VA rating documentation, or proof of your relationship to a service member who died while serving.

Eligibility

  • You are currently serving in an active or reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces, you are a veteran with an honorable discharge, you are a veteran with a service-connected disability rating of at least 60 percent or the loss of a lower extremity, or you are the surviving spouse, parent, stepparent, child, sibling or stepsibling of a service member who died while serving
  • You apply at a Texas state park
