Georgia Department of Revenue
Combat pay excluded from Georgia taxable income

Pay you earn while serving in a designated combat zone is left out of your Georgia taxable income, to the same extent it is excluded on your federal return.

How to apply

There is no separate application. Exclude qualifying combat pay on your Georgia return the same way you do on your federal return; Georgia follows the federal treatment.

What you'll need

Your federal return showing the combat pay exclusion, plus orders or a Leave and Earnings Statement documenting service in a designated combat zone.

Eligibility

  • You served in a designated combat zone during the tax year and excluded the same pay on your federal return
