The Georgia Uniform Guardianship Act allows a court to appoint a guardian for a veteran who has been found incompetent, and for that veteran’s children, when VA benefits are involved.

Petition the probate court in the county where the veteran lives. A Georgia Department of Veterans Service Field Service Office can help you understand the process.

The determination of incompetency, documentation of the VA benefits involved, and the veteran’s service records.

  • The veteran has been found incompetent, or the matter concerns the children of such a veteran
  • VA benefits are involved
